This summer, the sky was the limit as brave individuals took the plunge for the Children’s Respite Trust’s summer of skydives. We are incredibly grateful for the support of all our participants, including Laura Gamlin from STR Refrigeration, the vibrant Shoe Shuffle team—Katie, Katie, Leah, and Lucy—and Stephen and Kamil from The Lansdowne. Each group took to the skies at Headcorn Aerodrome and got to admire the Kent countryside.
Laura’s recent skydive was a remarkable display of courage and dedication. Her enthusiasm for supporting our cause has been a great source of inspiration, helping to raise both awareness and funds. Laura’s commitment to making a difference has significantly bolstered our efforts to provide essential respite care services.
The dynamic Shoe Shuffle team—Katie, Katie, Leah, and Lucy brought their infectious energy and positive vibes to the jump. Their participation was not only a fun and exciting moment but also a powerful demonstration of community support. The team have worked so hard to fundraise hosting 2 quiz nights, a netball event and bake sale. Katie Meikle, an ambassador at the Trust said ‘Not only did we have a blast but we’ve really enjoyed giving back. We can’t wait to do more”.
We also had the pleasure of welcoming Stephen and Kamil from The Lansdowne, who joined our skydiving line-up with immense enthusiasm. Their involvement is part of the Lansdowne’s wider support as CRT is their chosen charity of the year. We are so grateful for their ongoing support and we can’t wait to share other events from this partnership.
These extraordinary individuals didn’t just leap from planes; they took on the huge challenge to fundraise. Together they raised £4816 which will enable us to continue our respite care services especially throughout the summer holidays. This support is crucial in providing relief and support to families who face daily challenges.
The Summer of Skydives has been a soaring success, thanks to the generosity and spirit of people like Laura, Katie M, Katie I, Leah, Lucy, Stephen, and Kamil. Their contributions have made a tangible difference in the lives of the children and families we serve, ensuring that we can continue to offer much-needed care and support.
